So you think you may be pregnant?

Monday, January 14th, 2008

You think you may be pregnant?  Her are some signs that you can look out for,

Sore Breasts?

  • You may notice that your breasts are feeling sore, and more sensitive than normal.

  • Your nipples could also seem to be more prominent with your areola larger and darker in colour.

  •  They could also be growing very quickly, even in the first few weeks.

Feeling Tired?

  • All your hormones in early pregnancy could have you wanting long lie-ins and afternoon siestas with plenty of early nights.

  • You may be feeling absolutely exhausted even after a full night’s sleep!

  • Try and get plenty of rest and don’t worry it won’t last for the entire pregnancy.

Need the toilet?

  • Your uterus will be expanding and putting pressure on your bladder so you may feel the need to make lots of trips to the toilet for a wee!

  • This is a great chance to practice controlling your pelvic floor muscles as this will help you in giving birth.

  • Don’t forget to drink your daily recommended six-eight glasses of water a day as cutting back on fluids to stop the frequent trips to the toilet will only make you dehydrated.

Vaginal discharge?

  • You may notice a discharge which is normal.

  • If the discharge is smelly or itchy, contact your G.P. as you may have an infection

Sensitive to smells?

  • No-one seems to know why but you may find that the smell that you once loved or maybe your best-friends perfume suddenly has you feeling queasy.

Feeling bloated?

  • Hormonal changes in early pregnancy can leave you feeling bloated, similar to the feeling many of us get just before our period arrives.

Other quirky symptoms can be having a funny taste in your mouth, some people say it’s a strong metallic taste! Headaches are also common due to hormones, however, if they are pro-longed then consult your G.P.However the only real way to tell if you are pregnant is to do a pregnancy test.

I had terrible morning sickness with both my children but ginger ale in the morning and rich tea biscuits helped me through!
